I don't currently collect cassettes though I might buy one here and there on Bandcamp for the artwork. This is my current collection which I've kept throughout the years since getting my first in the early 90s.
WOMP WOMP: AFTER I started building this page I learned that my tapes are buried in my storage room so it may take some time to complete. For now I've added a handful of albums to get the page started and I'll add mix tapes later! I also just got a player for these so after I dig them up I'll listen to them and add my thoughts.
Using this space to add whatever thoughts I have going through these tapes, maybe I'll formalize it some day.
I mainly bought this because it came with a really fucking rad button, but I also like this band a lot. The album satisfies all your post-punk darkwave needs.
It's also cool because the singer was my first boyfriend and he's the guy who introduced me to post punk initially. Now we're Instagram friends and I buy his band's music because I like it. The music takes me back to high school because I can hear the influence of bands we listened to, and it's very cool to have music memories involving an ex that aren't tied up in weird emotions! It's all about the music and being a music lover with a friend.
Favorite tracks: Spite as an Act of Affection, Fade, "Sure"
This was one of my first tapes that I didn't steal from someone else's collection (like my parents or brothers old tapes that they had stopped listening to). I was 9 and being obsessed with The Lion King and all its music, I got my parents to buy me the soundtrack so I could listen to it end to end until the end of time at home, instead of waiting for the hit singles to play on the radio.
Before you ask, no I do not like the new songs added to the movie in 2019.
Favorite tracks (still): Be Prepared, This Land, Under the Stars
